I've wanted a Prelude off and on for more than 20 years. Thankfully, I'm forgetful so I quickly forget. (arguably, it's the same part of me that wants a Honda Beat, except the Beat is taking this desire and saying "if you're going to go there, you might as well go all the way")

Cheap cars are rarely cheap and Hondas have an added premium. I did see a last generation Prelude that had actually had an engine out restoration on my local Craigslist a while ago. That moment when you realize they are much older than you thought.

I do like the 5th gen, but the proportions have always struck me as a bit awkward. Something about the size and shape of the greenhouse. That said, i’ve window-shopped more than a couple 5th gens.
The 4th gen apes the design of the flowing curves 5th gen Accord, which will always hold be a soft-spot for me. Plus, dat wrap- around dash tho...
The 3rd gen, proportional ly, is what the 5th gen should have been. The only part i DON’T like about the 3rd gen is the boring rear end and taillight treatment, but not enough to make me not want one.
